General Information about Worship with Us
Times: Sunday worship is at 10:30am
During Worship
Christian Worship intends to equip us to do God’s work of compassion and justice in the world. Worship empowers our vocation.
On arrival, an usher will gladly welcome you and assist as requested.
Our services are broadcasted via Zoom, for most of the year. Please contact the Office before Thursday to receive the Zoom invite.
The Order of Service is projected for your benefit. The liturgies are responsive.
‘Le Notre Pere’ is recited often; other French liturgies are included on occasion.
Voices United and More Voices hymn books are in the pews. We encourage you to sing heartily!
During Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter, professional musical guests grace our services with their talents.
Our ‘KidsTeam’ worker coordinates ‘Children’s Time’ and Church School. An activity station is also available in the Sanctuary.
We currently engage the Narrative Lectionary, from which the Minister’s Reflections are based. The hymns, liturgies and powerpoint images are all chosen to support theme-based services. The New Revised Updated translation is used for the scripture text.
An Offering is taken up at the end of Worship. The monies support our ministry both locally and globally.
The first service of the month invites birthday celebrations and an Acknowledgement of the Land. We are committed to living into Right Relations with our Indigenous brothers and sisters. A Mohawk Bible graces the Communion Table to symbolize this intention.
Our Minister and Music Director currently lead Taizé Services on the first Sunday of the months which have five Sundays.
The hope is to calm the soul and mind toward peace, during these troubling times of global chaos and war.
Communion
The United Church of Canada upholds an ‘open table’ ethos. All are welcome! As the Church Seasons unfold, we celebrate Communion via Intinction or via Distribution to the Pews. We mark World-Wide Communion Sunday, Advent One, Christmas Eve, Lent One, Easter Sunday and Pentecost Sunday as particular days that call us to Christ’s Table. The Iona Communion Liturgy is often engaged as well as liturgies from ‘Gathering’ – The United Churches liturgical resource.
